Installation at “El Carmel” food market, Barcelona, Spain. Illustrations on paper, fabric, hand made bird cage bags, stop motion animation, eggs.
I was invited to do an artist residency at Boca Nord Cultural Center, Barcelona City Hall, Spain. The goal was to bring art to the neighborhood by designing an installation in a vacant market´s food stand formerly used to sell eggs. I used my time to connect with some of the national immigrant neighbors, and to research and give visibility to the traditions they brought with them when they moved to Barcelona, like a birding singing competition called “la pega”. The installation included stories compiled in a stop motion animation, illustrations of some of the people I meet and hand made bird cage bags that I gave to the participants in appreciation of their time.
